The Network comprises researchers from across Australia, and has partnered with the University of Sydney’s Body, Heart and Mind in Business Research Centre (BHMB). The Scholars Network was founded by Dr Lynne Reeder, National Director of the ACC who invited Professor Felicia Huppert to be the Director of this Scholars Network. Felicia is Emeritus Professor of Psychology and Founding Director of the Well-being Institute, University of Cambridge, UK and is currently Honorary Professor with the Body, Heart and Mind in Business Research Group at the University of Sydney Business School.
The Scholars Network maps and distributes information on Australian compassion research, and its application in business, health, education, and other organisational and policy settings. An annual highlight is the ACC Compassion Research Conference, that features Australian and International speakers and attracts an international audience. Previous distinguished speakers include Professor Paul Gilbert, Dr Tanya Singer, and Professor William Mobley.
The topic for our 2023 Conference is Compassion in Organisations, and the international keynote speaker is Professor Michael West, Department of Organizational Psychology, Lancaster University, UK, renowned for his work on compassion in healthcare and organisations more broadly.
